Welcome to the Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home. The home of Jack and Nelle Reagan, the parents of President Ronald Reagan. Jack, Nelle, Neil (their oldest child) and Ronald all lived here in the 1920’s. Come experience what his youth was like and walk in his footsteps through his boyhood home and the city he loved.
From the Director
To Our Friends and Patrons,
The Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home had an initial season opening day of April 1st, 2020 planned when our nation and for that matter the world was hit by the coronavirus pandemic. BUT we have not been idle at the Reagan Home, we have undergone a complete remodel of the inside of our Visitors Center, updated our website, created a NEW pre-tour video, and installed a brand new handicapped ramp for those with physical challenges. At the Home we installed new carpet in the hallway and stairs as well as refinished some of the rooms, redid some of the failing wallpaper, and stained and varnished much of the woodwork.
As we move forward with the return to normal phase the Reagan Home is going to remain closed, with a tentative opening date of August 1st, 2020. The reasons are twofold, first and foremost the safety of our entire staff, a lot of us are in the “Compromised Group” who are most at risk for infection. The second reason is the safety of our patrons and guests.
During the period when we will be closed we will be moving forward with renovations, and the three major challenges we have left are: installing a new Cedar Shake roof on the Reagan home, installing same on the barn and finally a complete repaint of the barn. These decisions were made after much consideration for all parties involved. The end result will be a far greater experience when visiting our nearly new campus in Dixon.
Thank you for your understanding and patience during this difficult and challenging time.
