Members of the Dixon High School Leo Club came out to help plant and preserve the Reagan Family Garden! A variety of vegetables and flowers were planted to represent the sort of garden the Reagan’s would have planted during their residency at 816 S. Hennepin Ave.

More than 50 local Kiwanis Members came out Saturday April 21 to help preserve the Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home during its 2nd annual Clean Up Day! Members helped clean flower beds, repair light fixtures, repaint park benches, and more! Ages ranged from 3-91! Great work Kiwanis!

DIXON, Ill. – The Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home Preservation Foundation today announced
that Brandi Langner has been hired as Executive Director. Langner begins work immediately and
takes over for Connie Lange, who retired April 1 after six productive years in that position.

“We’re excited to welcome Brandi Langner as executive director,” said Jeff Lovett, board
president, “We received dozens of great applications, but Brandi stood out in experience,
attitude, and vision for the organization.”

The Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home is a fully-restored 1920s era home occupied by the Reagan
family during Ronald “Dutch” Reagan’s formative years. The site includes the Boyhood Home,
a visitor’s center, and a park with an iconic Reagan statue, and draws thousands of visitors from
nearly every state and dozens of countries each year. The historical site receives no government
funding and is privately owned and funded by the Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home Preservation
Foundation, a not-for-profit organization.

Langner brings a wide range of experience from community and not-for-profit organizations
across the Sauk Valley, notably with the Girl Scouts of Green Hills Council and Woodlawn Arts
Academy.

“The Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home is a Dixon treasure,” said James Burke, member of the
board of directors and mayor of Dixon, “We welcome Brandi and look forward to working
productively with her and with the community to preserve the Reagan legacy here in Dixon.”

The Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home is staffed by a dedicated group of local volunteers, many of
whom have years of experience giving tours and sharing stories of the Reagan family in Dixon.

President Ronald Reagan was joined by First Lady Nancy Reagan and his brother Neil Reagan
on February 6, 1984 for a hometown birthday celebration and dedication of the boyhood home.
Reagan again visited the home in 1991, after serving eight years as America’s 40th President.

When Ronald Wilson Reagan died on June 5, 2004, the boyhood home was the site of an
impromptu memorial with cards, flowers, and photos from thousands of mourners. National
news crews encamped at the home and spoke with local residents about the Reagan legacy and
local pride in Dixon’s most famous son. Still today, the boyhood home draws visitors from
around the world who come to see the little white house on Hennepin Avenue where it all began.

The 2012 Reagan Rides Car & Motorcycle Show will be held at the Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home, 816 Hennepin Ave. on June 16th, 2012. Proceeds from the show benefit the Boyhood Home, a non-profit organization.  

Registration starts at 9am at the Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home. Register before May 16 to guarantee custom Reagan Rides 2012 dash plaque. Reagan Rides T-Shirts can also be preordered.

 Top 10 awards will be presented at 3pm, along with the Kenneth E. Berogan award for most “family oriented car show experience.”

Any vehicles on wheels welcome! Entry fee is $15, spectators are free! There will be music, 50/50 drawings, a cook out and snack sale in Reagan Memorial Park.

The Executive Director reports directly to the Foundation Board and is responsible for coordinating all daily activities at the Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home and visitor’s center. Applicants should have education and/or professional experience in one or more of the following areas: historic preservation, planning, retailing, marketing, membership development, volunteer management, nonprofit management, and small business development. The Executive Director must be entrepreneurial, energetic, imaginative, well organized, and capable of functioning effectively in an independent environment. Must be proficient in computer skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Salary range is dependent upon experience.

A Reagan Family Christmas will be held at the Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home on Saturday December 3rd, 2011 from 10am to 2pm. Admission to the Home will be $3 for anyone over 12, 12 and under $2.  Tickets may be purchased in the Visitor Center. Last minute gifts may be purchased in the gift shop as well.

 A bake sale to benefit the Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home Volunteer Scholarship in Memory of Doris Jordan will also be held in the Visitor Center. Proceeds benefit the scholarship that will be awarded to a local high school senior in the spring.

 So come experience a 1920’s Christmas by touring the Boyhood Home, shop our gift shop, enjoy some delicious cookies and help preserve the Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home, a non-profit organization.
